TIGER ATHLETICS was created based on passion, love of athletics and for the joy of movement. When we were kids, we went from sport to sport and from playground to playground and never stopped moving. What we now realize as adults, is that we were getting a vast knowledge of physical literacy, fun and great life skills that teach you to overcome many obstacles.
As competitive athletes and certified coaches, it became evident to us that we needed to share that experience with our children and other young aspiring athletes in our community. We want kids to PLAY, not just participate, in sports and life. There is not an age that is ever too young to learn the F-U-N-damentals of sports and athletics.
We start at age 3 and go to adult. Given our extensive athletic and training background, we focus on Long-Term Athletic Development (LTAD). LTAD is an athlete development model from playground to podium. It is based on scientific research and the art of the coach, focusing on the eight skills of athleticism: agility, balance, coordination, strength, speed, stamina, power and flexibility. When you see it, you know it. Everyone is an athlete inside. We find it, no matter what age you are and build on it. One of our core principles is to give young athletes and adults a broad introduction to athletics and sports, as well as guard against the risks of training too hard, too early and overspecializing too soon. We believe once an athlete improves his or her athleticism, this would directly transfer over to increased confidence and performance on the playing field, no matter what sport is chosen.
We don’t just train athletes; they become part of our training family. Once they become a TIGER Athlete they learn that it’s not just about hard work, but that many underlying factors contribute to how well they perform during their sport. We preach the ideas of physical literacy, proper nutrition for an athlete, and proper sleeping habits to let the body fully recover for the next workout or game. It’s not just about going through the motions; it’s about becoming a complete athlete and learning real-life skills.
That initial idea has grown and grown, yet we still take the time to know each one of our athletes on a first name basis. The athletes really get to know the coaches, and the coaches find it both a pleasure and a necessity to know the athletes.
We have come to expect a lot of our athletes, and they can expect the same out of us.
Hope to see you at TIGER ATHLETICS,
Chris & Stacie Clark
